Boat and bike hire terms and conditions

Coniston Boating Centre boat and bike hire bookings are subject to our terms and conditions. By proceeding with a booking and hiring a boat or bike from us you agree that these will apply.

Conditions of hire

1. You will take responsibility for yourself and all people in your party.
2. You and your passengers must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. No drugs or alcohol allowed onboard.
3. You and your passengers will wear a buoyancy aid at all times. These will be issued by a member of staff.
4. You are competent to manage the hired boat following instruction.
5. You are aware of any dangers and will act in a careful and responsible manner at all times.
6. You must be 18 years of age or older to hire a powered boat i.e. Motorboat.
7. You must be 16 years of age or older to hire a non-powered boat i.e. Paddleboard, Kayak, Canoe etc.
8. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult within the same boat at all times.
9. You will not exceed the maximum number of passengers stated by a member of staff or on the boat.
10. You and your passengers will not leave the main seating area of the boat. Do not swim from the boat.
11. Motorboats must keep at least 100 meters away from the shore at all times. Staying towards the middle of the lake.
12. All hired boats must keep at least 20 meters away from all other lake users, private land, and private jetties.
13. You will pay for any damage caused by you or your passengers' negligence to both the hired boat and any third party involved.
14. From time to time Coniston Boating Centre or other authorised parties carry out photography and/or video recording in the site, which may feature guests. Entry to the site is deemed acceptance of these Entry Conditions, and you therefore agree that the Lake District National Park Authority or any authorised party may use such images in perpetuity in any promotional, advertising or publicity material in any format whatsoever. You further agree that copyright in these materials rests with Merlin or such authorised party (as the case may be).

Canoes, kayaks and paddleboards.

1. You are happy to right a capsize and look after yourself and all people in your party.
2. You are capable of recovering a person overboard.
3. You are capable of landing the hired boat on the shore.
4. Previous experience required for Canadian canoe hire. You are aware of capsize risks and can look after yourself and all people in your party.

Group paddleboard

1. Minimum 5 occupants.
2. You must not exceed the maximum of 8 occupants or 500kg weight limit.
3. Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult on board the group paddleboard at all times.
4. You must be at least 10 years of age to go on the group paddleboard.
5. As well as other safety equipment, you must also wear a helmet at all times, we will provide the helmet, we have small, medium and large sizes, if the helmet does not fit you will not be able to go on the group paddleboard.

. Bikes

1. Valid ID must be left in the form of a credit / debit card or photo ID.
2. Hirer is responsible for the security and condition of the bike whilst in their care.
3. Bike must be returned on time. A charge will be made for late returns.
4. Helmets must be worn at all times.
5. Highway code must be observed at all times.
6. Hirer is responsible for their own safety at all times.

Bookings

· Bookings are taken by Coniston Boating Centre staff or by the customers directly through our booking website.

• You will be issued with a booking reference which you will need to present to Coniston Boating Centre staff on the day.
• Please arrive 15 minutes before your time starts.

Booking guarantee

Your credit or debit card details will be requested to purchase your ticket(s). If booking online, your credit or debit card details will be requested to complete your purchase and a "print-at-home" ticket will be generated. Full payment, as itemised, shall be debited by SagePay and your account statement will identify the transaction as "Lake District N P".

Cancellation policy

Cancellation by you

You must give at least 48hrs notice prior to your booking to receive a full refund.

You must give at least 24hrs notice prior to your booking to move the booking to another time or date. You can move a booking once only. Once you have moved a booking it cannot changed, and you cannot get a refund.

Cancellation by us

Boat and bike hire are weather dependent. If we determine that the weather conditions on the day are not suitable for the type of hire you have booked, we will need to cancel your booking in accordance with our cancellation policy.

If we need to cancel your booking, we will offer you a full refund.
